Dr. Amin Bornadel, Team Leader- Enzyme Applications at JM, gained his PhD in Biotechnology from Lund University in Sweden. After his postdoc studies in Biocatalysis, Amin joined JM in 2016. Having done his BSc and MSc studies in Chemical Engineering and specialised in Biocatalysis afterwards, Amin has a broad experience in biochemical reaction engineering and biocatalytic process development based on his work in academia and industry over the past 14 years.

Dr. Beatriz Domínguez gained her PhD in Synthetic Organic Chemistry from the University of Vigo, Spain and then moved to the UK where she worked with Prof. Tom Brown at the University of Southampton and with Prof. Guy Lloyd-Jones at the University of Bristol. In 2002 she joined Synetix, soon to become Johnson Matthey, and has worked at the company’s facilities in Cambridge since.

For the last twenty-five years Beatriz has gained broad experience in the field of catalysis, ranging from the use of PGMs, particularly hydrogenation and cross-coupling, all the way to biocatalysis, working closely with Fine Chemical companies to deliver optimal catalytic processes. Beatriz is currently Technical Manager for Biotechnology at Johnson Matthey.

Key Research Facilities, Infrastructure and Equipment
JM’s labs in Cambridge Science Park (Cambridge, UK) are equipped with state-of-the-art instruments in computational biology, molecular biology, protein engineering and production, as well as high-throughput robotic equipment for library preparation and screening, bioprocessing, enzyme immobilisation, batch and flow reaction designs for synthesis (R&D scale), and analytical capabilities (spectrophotometry, GC, UPLC, MS, NMR, etc.).
